The Growth We Saw in the Children’s Expressions
American Engineering Corporation (AEC), a proud supporter of the “Machinaka Study Abroad Fund sponsored by AEC,” recently held a Farewell Ceremony following the completion of the program’s three-day homestay-style international exchange experience, which took place from March 27 to 29.

A total of 20 students—from elementary through high school across Okinawa—participated in the program, spending time with host families from diverse cultural backgrounds living in Okinawa and engaging in meaningful cross-cultural exchange.
Supporting the Future of Our Community: Another Way AEC Gives Back
At AEC, we believe our role extends beyond building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports everyday life in our communities. We also believe that helping nurture the next generation is an important part of our mission as a company.
Every child deserves the opportunity to explore new possibilities—regardless of family circumstances or financial background.
We believe there is real value in creating opportunities for children in Okinawa to broaden their horizons, encounter different perspectives, and discover new possibilities for themselves—all while staying rooted in their local community.
Creating these kinds of opportunities for the future, right here in the communities we serve, is one of the ways AEC seeks to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

From Learning English to Living It
At the Farewell Ceremony, the children’s expressions reflected something very different from the nervousness seen on the first day. Their faces showed confidence, accomplishment, and growth—clear signs that this experience had become far more than a language activity.
It was evident that these three days offered something truly meaningful: not only a chance to practice English, but also an opportunity to build confidence, broaden perspectives, and develop the courage to embrace new challenges.
Parents and participants alike shared highly positive feedback, with many expressing renewed motivation to continue studying English and a stronger sense of confidence gained through the experience.
Through this program, English moved beyond something learned in the classroom and became something real—something used, shared, and experienced in everyday life.

As a Company Rooted in Okinawa, We Will Continue to Support Growth
Participants shared comments such as, “I think it’s wonderful to have friends all around the world,” while one parent reflected, “Even with limited English, the host family listened so warmly, and it gave my child so much confidence.”

As a company rooted in Okinawa, AEC will continue to value opportunities that help children and young people take meaningful steps toward the future. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the long-term growth of our community by empowering the next generation.
