The Support of Senior Colleagues and the Insights of Peers: Building on What We’ve Learned

AEC Holds Six-Month Training for New Graduate Employees in FY2026

Encountering unfamiliar terminology. Asking senior colleagues questions and learning from their guidance. Gradually taking on more responsibility.

During their first six months at AEC, new employees have gained experience not only through formal training, but also through the lessons learned on the job.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, American Engineering Corporation (AEC) held a six-month training session for employees who joined the company as new graduates in April 2026. The theme was “Reflecting on the First Six Months and Envisioning Who We Want to Become in a Year.” The session gave participants time away from their daily tasks to reflect on their experiences and consider the professionals they aspire to become.

Skills, Colleagues, and Learning: What Work Has Given Them

During the session, participants shared their thoughts in groups on what they had gained through their work.

The responses included technical skills, relationships with colleagues, and opportunities to learn. Their reflections highlighted that the first six months had been about more than learning how to do the job; they had also been about building connections with the people they work alongside.

As participants listened to one another, they took notes on ideas that resonated with their own experiences and lessons they wanted to put into practice. Hearing their peers’ perspectives also gave them an opportunity to look at their own experiences in a new light.

Thinking for Yourself, with Support from Senior Colleagues

Participants also spoke about the kindness of their colleagues and the support they receive through everyday guidance.

One participant reflected on how senior colleagues had patiently answered questions after they had first tried to work things out independently. The experience reinforced the importance of both thinking for yourself and knowing when to ask others for help.

Participants also discussed safety management on-site, where guidance can sometimes be strict. Behind that guidance is a clear concern for employees’ well-being and a desire to prevent injuries. The emphasis on putting safety first reflects the importance of looking out for every individual. Participants recognized the care behind this guidance and reflected on the importance of making safety their top priority.

From Unfamiliar Terminology to Taking on New Responsibilities

Participants also spoke openly about the challenges they faced when they first joined the company.

Some encountered workplace terminology for the first time after joining AEC. One participant shared how coming across unfamiliar terms while listening to explanations sparked a desire to learn more.

Others described how gradually being entrusted with more responsibilities had helped them recognize their own progress. Communicating with people outside the company had also provided opportunities to see how much they had grown.

Learning to navigate unfamiliar situations and taking on greater responsibility were both important parts of their reflections on the first six months.

Turning Six Months of Experience into Goals for the Future

The training provided an opportunity not only to recognize what participants had learned to do, but also to put into words what they had gained through their work.

Technical skills and knowledge, relationships with colleagues, and support from those around them: reflecting on these experiences provides a foundation for considering who they want to become a year from now.

AEC will continue to foster a working environment where every employee—not only new graduates—can learn and grow through their daily work, with managers, senior colleagues, and relevant departments working together to support their development.
