Tell me about the specific hiring process (from application to job offering).

A

Once we have received your application, we will review your resume and other documents. We will then contact selected applicants to schedule an interview. Applicants may need to be interviewed either once or twice. For information about the hiring date, we recommend you ask us at the time of the interview.

A

It may vary depending on the interview schedule, but it typically takes roughly 2 weeks after we start reviewing your resume and other documents.

A

Does AEC supply work tools and equipment?

A

We offer a variety of allowances including congratulatory payments for marriage, childbirth and admittance to schools and condolence pays for deaths, provide recreational facilities, athletic gym, club activities, Japanese/English classes, award employees with many years of service, hold annual company events such as year-end party and motivational party (BBQ), and provide other welfare services unique to AEC.
AEC also sponsors Ryukyu Golden Kings, a professional basketball team, and employees are given a chance to win a free game ticket (through raffle drawing).

Will I be able to get a second job while hired at AEC?

A

We accept employees to have a second job, provided that they are not working for other companies in the same industry or working in a manner that affects their operation at AEC.

What options do we have available concerning work shifts and types of work?

A

At AEC, we offer a variety of systems such as Reduced Work Hours, Staggered Work Hours for employees who perform child care/family care. In particular, we have expanded the eligibilities for Reduced/Staggered Work Hours for those who perform child care in line with our effort to create a conducive environment for employees to balance their work and child care.

Are there any dress-codes at AEC?

We provide site workers with the Company’s uniforms. Those engaged in other job types are allowed to wear office-casual attires.

Will there be a trial employment period, and how will I be treated during such period?

A

In general, trial employment period (“probation period”) is set at 3 to 6 months. In principle, there is no change in pay conditions during this period.

How is Personnel Evaluation carried out?

A

Through personnel evaluation, employees will set the goals for each fiscal year and the Company supports each employee’s development by evaluating their performance and behavior. Based on the results of the evaluation, we will determine the amount of their (winter) bonuses and pay raise.

How much will I have to work outside regular work hours? Will I have to work on holidays?

A

Average overtime hours for the entire company in F.Y. 2023 was 14 hours. We offer employees an environment where they can maintain a balance between work and private life. In 2023, AEC received “Okinawa Prefecture Work-Life Balance Company” certification.
Although some of the projects and job types may require employees to work on holidays occasionally, we grant them substitute days off.
In addition, overtime work and work on holidays will be fully compensated for each minute with Overtime and Holiday Work Allowances.

How much will Project Managers work overtime?

A

Average overtime hours for project management engineers was 20 hours in F.Y. 2023.
Allocated time for site work is limited for US Military Construction Projects. As a result, overtime hours for those engaged in such projects tend to be shorter than that for their counterparts overseeing other construction projects. Such environment enables employees to maintain a good balance between work and private life and fulfill their needs in family life, hobbies and learning,

Will I be allowed to use a company vehicle to go to a work site or for other work-related purposes?

A

You may use a company vehicle when you need to leave your workplace during workhours. In such case, the company will provide you with ETC (for highway tolls) and fuel cards.

Does AEC supply work tools and equipment?

A

Yes. Work tools, helmets, work clothes, and other items that are used at work sites will be supplied by the Company.
