Smiles and Excitement at the Presentation Ceremony
American Engineering Corporation (AEC) recently visited Misato Children’s Home, a residential care facility in Okinawa City, to deliver original AEC-sponsored Ryukyu Golden Kings T-shirts to 48 children and staff members.
During the donation ceremony, the children were surprised and delighted by a special appearance from Gordy, the official mascot of the Ryukyu Golden Kings (Kings). The room quickly filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement.

As the children received the specially designed limited-edition T-shirts, they proudly showed them to one another while sharing comments such as, “The design is so cute!” and “I want to wear it every day!” The children’s excitement made the occasion especially memorable.

Experiencing Professional Basketball Firsthand
Just two days after the ceremony, on April 8, AEC invited seven high school students from the home to attend the AEC-sponsored Kings game at Okinawa SUNTORY Arena.
Watching from the stands, the students were captivated by the speed, intensity, and atmosphere of professional basketball in a way that simply cannot be experienced through a television screen. Their eyes stayed fixed on the court as they cheered enthusiastically throughout the game.

Addressing Gaps in Access to Enriching Experiences
In Japan today, unequal access to extracurricular and cultural experiences has become an increasingly recognized social issue Differences in family environment and economic circumstances can limit children’s access to extracurricular opportunities such as sporting events and cultural activities. Studies conducted by private organizations have also pointed to disparities in access to these experiences depending on a child’s environment.
While material support such as clothing, meals, and financial assistance remains essential, we also believe that meaningful experiences can have a lasting impact on children.
We hope that opportunities to experience local professional sports firsthand can help inspire confidence and create positive memories for the children.
Words That Touched Our Hearts
Not long after the game, we received heartfelt handwritten letters from the children at Misato Children’s Home.
One message in particular left a lasting impression on us:
“Watching the Kings game was an incredible experience, but what impressed me most was realizing how many people work behind the scenes to support the team behind the scenes.
In the same way, we feel grateful for the people who support and care for us, allowing the children at Misato Children’s Home to grow up in a happy and healthy environment.”
After reading the letter, our President shared the following reflection:
“This message reminded us once again of the kind of company we strive to be—one that supports the local community and the people around us. As the children continue to grow, we hope this experience will remain a positive and encouraging memory for them.”

Continuing to Grow Together with the Community
The children’s smiles as they received their T-shirts, and enjoyed the game at the arena, have became treasured memories for everyone at AEC.
We remain committed to supporting the local community and contributing to a brighter future for the next generation through continued community engagement initiatives.
