About AmerAsian School in Okinawa
On June 1, American Engineering Corporation (AEC) visited AmerAsian School in Okinawa to celebrate the school’s 28th anniversary and present a donation in support of its educational programs.
AmerAsian School offers a dual-immersion education program in which students learn in both Japanese and English.
The school provides a supportive learning environment for children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
AEC has supported the school since its founding and was honored to take part in this year’s anniversary celebration.
Visiting the Learning Environment
Prior to the anniversary ceremony, we had the opportunity to observe classes and experience the school’s learning environment firsthand.
As soon as we entered the classroom, the students greeted us with a series of candid questions in English:
“Where are you from?”
“Why are you here?”
“Are you an American?”
AEC President Kenneth Exsterstein responded to each question with a smile, engaging warmly with the students.
Throughout the classrooms, students could be seen naturally switching between Japanese and English as they learned.
The interactions between teachers and students reflected an environment where individual backgrounds and personalities are respected and valued.
Visiting the school in person provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of its educational philosophy and to gain a better understanding of the school’s educational philosophy and observe its learning environment firsthand.
Celebrating 28 Years of Learning
The 28th Anniversary Celebration featured performances by the students, commemorative photos around a large anniversary cake, and the presentation of AEC’s donation.
During the ceremony, our President shared the following message with the students:
“Learning is a stepping stone to the next stage of your journey. Set goals, and never give up on your studies.”
The students listened attentively as the school community came together to celebrate this important milestone.
A Relationship Spanning More Than 25 Years
Since its establishment in 1998, AmerAsian School has provided educational opportunities for children in a multicultural environment.
AEC has supported the school since its founding, inspired by its mission and educational vision.
Donations over the years have been used to enhance learning spaces and educational resources, helping create an environment where students can learn and thrive.
The Principal Mr. Higa shared the following remarks:
“Thank you very much for joining our anniversary celebration and for your generous donation. The message from President Kenneth meant a great deal to both our students and staff.”
Visiting the school and spending time with its students and educators allowed us to see firsthand how our longstanding support contributes to a positive learning environment and the continued growth of its students.
AEC remains committed to supporting organizations that promote diverse educational opportunities and to contributing to the local community through long-term partnerships.
